Fotógrafo Santiago Garcia realiza workshops do projeto “E aí, meu Chapa?” em parceria com Nação Valquírias

Com sua câmera analógica em mãos e muito conteúdo para compartilhar sobre o papel da fotografia na sociedade, o fotógrafo e professor universitário Santiago Naliato Garcia segue com a execução de seu novo projeto cultural, “E aí, meu Chapa?”. A iniciativa tem apoio da Secretaria de Cultura do Estado de São Paulo, por meio da Lei Paulo Gustavo, e busca dar visibilidade a um ofício muitas vezes invisibilizado pela sociedade: o dos Chapas, trabalhadores que auxiliam caminhoneiros no carregamento e descarregamento de mercadorias em estradas e centros de distribuição pelo Brasil.

“Foi a curiosidade de ouvir essas histórias e fotografar essas pessoas que me levou a escrever esse projeto”, explica Santiago, que já finalizou os registros fotográficos em trechos da BR-153 e da rodovia Washington Luís, na região de São José do Rio Preto.

Além do livro fotográfico inédito, que já está na gráfica e deve ser lançado em breve, foi criado um perfil no Instagram para acompanhar todo o processo criativo @eaimeuchapa_riopreto, o projeto também conta com workshops e oficinas gratuitas, que começam na próxima semana com a proposta de unir formação técnica, prática fotográfica e reflexão social.

Programação dos workshops

  • 17 de setembro – Espaço Café com Propósito, na Mostra Arq Design (Riopreto Shopping), às 18h30.
  • 30 de setembro – Sede da Nação Valquírias, às 14h, com crianças e adolescentes atendidos pela instituição
  • 26 de setembro – UNIP, com participação de alunos da universidade, às 15h, durante evento da Rota – Circuito das bibliotecas Rio Pretanas, abordando temas extras como livros feitos em casa.

Com 80 vagas disponíveis, as atividades são gratuitas e abordarão temas como fotografia documental, editoração de livros fotográficos e a importância histórica e social dos Chapas.

Segundo Santiago, todo o processo foi realizado de forma analógica, desde o disparo até a revelação manual dos filmes, com curadoria cuidadosa para compor uma narrativa visual significativa. O livro final terá ISBN registrado conforme os recursos do edital, ampliando o alcance da iniciativa.

,Sobre o fotógrafo

Formado em Jornalismo pela Unesp de Bauru e doutor em Comunicação pela USP, Santiago Garcia possui mais de 20 anos de trajetória na fotografia e já realizou dezenas de exposições individuais e coletivas. Autor de títulos como Cidade Humana, Astrofotografia e Da Janela Lateral, ele também atua como professor e coordenador do curso de Jornalismo na Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais (UEMG/Frutal).

Reconhecido por prêmios e projetos aprovados em editais culturais, Santiago agora lança um olhar sensível e social sobre o universo dos Chapas, com a missão de dar voz e visibilidade a esses trabalhadores essenciais para a logística e economia do país.
